Talk to the mapper and say what you want to do, if he can do it, then you are on to a good bloke. If it's just a standard remap, then it's probably a copy file off E bay.

Location:Durham UK. Posted January 5, 2011. Power steering pump is fitted top right as you look at the engine (so nearside). It could be this leaking, or it could be the pipe underneath it which often rubs against the engine bay. Exchange unit for the pump is about £150 give or take.

The only solution to this is to send your ECU away to someone like ALIVE to get it refurbished or source a replacement. To check you will need a fault reader like a Nanocom. To be honest this is the first place I would start having been through this whole problem with my TD5. 9.
Basic electrical fault finding is fairly simple as long as you follow a logical sequence. This list can be used top to bottom or visa versa using circuit diagram and a leadlight or multimeter. Check for a voltage at the fuse or power. feed to the unit. Check for voltage at the unit.
Common problem, but worth checking. You will need a Nanocom or a Hawkeye from a friendly local to plug it in and see. Also check the wiring that runs around and over the top of the T box, that comes from the XYZ switch. It has a habit of chafing through on the metal P clip that holds it to the top of the box.
